We arrived in the city of Cusco two days later than expected. A plane had crashed on the high altitude runway and we were grounded at sea level in Lima. After skipping the acclimatisation days we were dropped into the schedule to reach the high altitude villages., Altitude sickness hit on day two. I spent a night breathing through an oxygen tank. Day three I descended for a night. It was brutal on the body. But the strange thing is that it slowed me down and I spent the trip waiting for the images coming to me.
